Believe it or not, I don’t always love cooking. I can get into a rut just like everyone else.

That’s why I’ve put together my best “fun” cooking tips for you!

Cooking Tip #1

Browse new recipes.

I do this all. of. the. time.

I look out for the new free magazines from the supermarkets, I scroll through food and recipe sites on social media and I also go to the library and binge borrow healthy cookbooks! (Remember those things?!)

Seeing the beautiful food photos and reading through recipes can easily spark some inspiration to get back into the kitchen.

By the way, I share free weekly recipes on Fridays in my Facebook Group so head over and join me!

WonderWoman Tip: Searching through recipes can be so fun and inspiring, and can also end up taking waaaay longer than planned! Set a timer and leave enough time for actually cooking…

Cooking Tip #2

Get excited about grocery shopping!

Try the markets for a big Sunday veggie haul or head to the supermarket and look for things you’ve maybe heard of but haven’t really tried before.

Then you can go to tip #1 to find new and inspiring recipes when you get home.

WonderWoman Tip: Don’t be afraid to spend on your food. Spending money is fun so it’s a great way to feel better about ‘having to do the shopping’.

And when it comes to money… this is literally the foundation of your health. You couldn’t choose a wiser investment!

So get those organic salad leaves and buy that kombucha – you’ll appreciate it so much more.

Plus the better stocked up you are, the less likely you are to impulse buy junk food later in the week.

Cooking Tip #3

Keep it simple!

Sometimes when I see a great food picture, I immediately get inspired to make it. But if I look at the ingredients or instructions and they’re too long, I stop.

It’s like shopping for clothes – if I probably need to iron it – I’m not buying it. That’s just me!

While there are occasional times I’m inspired to dive into an in-depth recipe, I generally like to keep things simple.

A few ways to keep things simple are to:

  • Search for recipes with 5-10 ingredients, and five or fewer instructions;
  • Search for recipes that can be made in one pot or pan;
  • Use ingredients that require minimal prep (pre-washed salad greens, pre-cut coleslaw mix, quality curry pastes etc.)

Cooking Tip #4

Put on some music and make a nice drink.

A glass of wine occasionally otherwise a sparkling water with lemon or a fizzy kombucha or herbal tea…

Set the scene with some music you just love. (I like to listen to the Blues when I’m cooking!)

Cooking Tip #5

Invest in some kitchen swag!

Having proper kitchen tools makes cooking so much easier and faster.

When’s the last time you sharpened your (our bought yourself a new) knife?

Do you have an amazing food processor that chops everything super quick?

Or a stick blender for soups?

Perhaps an ice-cream machine?

Even those cool little silicon moulds can make you want to bake mini muffins or make gelatin gummies.

To sum it all up…

You know that cooking is key to healthy eating. And, yes, it does get boring from time to time having to do it every… night…

But like anything that’s worth doing, sometimes we need to re-motivate ourselves, and I hope these tips will help you do just that!

(You already know your health will thank you.)
